You'd think that internet giants would have figured out how to employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accurately manage all of their platform's user-generated content. Humans, on the other hand, remain an important part of their moderation strategy.
While AI has gone a long way, and firms are constantly improving their AI algorithms, human moderators are still necessary for managing your brand online and ensuring the authenticity of user generated content.
When it comes to reading, understanding, interpreting, and filtering content, humans are still the best. As a result, when it comes to developing an online presence and curating material, firms will use both AI and humans.
Are you interested in learning more? We'll explain why human moderation is still necessary in the age of AI and technology in the sections below.
Humans are Capable of Reading Between the Lines
One of the most important reasons for using human moderators is that they are better at reading between the lines. Hidden meanings will occasionally escape an AI, even if a person could often comprehend the meaning in an instant.
A financial service customers, for example, chose to post a message saying, "It would be suicidal to invest in..." The term "suicidal" would have been caught up by an AI and eliminated immediately away. A human, on the other hand, is capable of comprehending the figure of speech and continuing the discussion.
Context and Intent needs Critical Judgement
Words in the English language can have various meanings based on how they are employed in a phrase and the overall meaning of the passage. Images can also take on diverse meanings depending on how they are used in some circumstances. Although AI can recognize an image, it is unable to discern how it is being used.
For example, suppose a customer offers fitness, nutrition, and weight-loss programmes. On a regular basis, their clients submit pictures of their weight loss progress, with some even going so far as to upload partially or entirely naked photos. It would be difficult to define a border between acceptable and unacceptable for an AI.
These were the two most critical concerns which makes the involvement of Human Moderation essential and inevitable in Content Moderation process. We would take this discussion further in our upcoming blogs.
